About this role
TerraPower seeks a Maintenance & Technical Training Instructor (Engineering) to develop and execute M&T training programs and materials for the Natrium Demonstration Project. You'll report to the M&T Training Manager and drive the creation of training processes, curriculum, and procedures aligned with NRC regulations and INPO accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
- —Develop Maintenance & Technical (M&T) training processes, programs, and procedures for a newly established training department, ensuring compliance with NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and applicable codes and standards
- —Develop and execute a strategy for training program initial accreditation
- —Use the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to develop high-quality training curriculum for maintenance and technical personnel
- —Revise training programs to maintain instructional and technical accuracy based on plant design changes, procedure modifications, and process updates
- —Participate actively in the Training Curriculum Review Committee
- —Coordinate with management, emergency response organization, and other stakeholders in training program development and improvement
- —Prepare trainee examination materials and evaluations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments
- —Develop processes for training performance evaluations, trainee counseling, and individualized training programs
- —Incorporate information from INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC Circulars, plant design changes, and training effectiveness reports into training materials
- —Participate in NRC, INPO, and management audits; prepare responses to audit findings
- —Develop and maintain knowledge of plant design, operations, disciplinary skills, and techniques to ensure effective training development
- —Supervise collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports
- —Assist Training Management in establishing department goals and cost estimates for budgeted activities
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Nuclear, or closely related discipline applicable to nuclear power plant systems)
- —Minimum 2 years of commercial nuclear power plant experience in plant engineering, systems engineering, or design engineering (or 4+ years of military nuclear experience as alternative)
- —Demonstrated mastery of technical and analytical skills with extensive subject matter knowledge in analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of M&T training programs using SAT
- —Experience translating engineering design, system functions, calculations, vendor documentation, and licensing basis information into effective training materials
- —Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with ability to develop technically accurate training content
- —Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills with ability to convey complex engineering concepts to varied audiences
- —Strong attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to training excellence, technical accuracy, and regulatory alignment
- —Demonstrated trust, integrity, and professionalism
