LEU+ Civil Field Engineer
About this role
Contract field engineer role supporting civil and structural construction at Westinghouse's Columbia Fuel Facility. Oversee construction progress, interpret engineering drawings, ensure compliance with nuclear construction codes and safety protocols, and coordinate with construction and project management teams.
Responsibilities
- —Assist Construction Superintendent and Project Engineer in overseeing civil/structural construction progress
- —Interpret drawings and collaborate with team to address civil/structural issues
- —Conduct regular jobsite walk-downs to ensure compliance with engineering requirements
- —Participate in design reviews for assigned discipline
- —Prepare and submit regular reports on project progress, issues, and relevant information
- —Enforce safety protocols and address potential hazards in the field
- —Participate in regular jobsite project meetings and inspections as directed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
- —At least 7 years of discipline-related engineering experience
- —At least 3 years of experience in the nuclear industry
- —3 years of technical project execution and/or field installation experience as a field engineer in the nuclear industry
- —Experience in an engineering, procurement and operations environment in the nuclear industry
- —Knowledge of construction methods, procedures, and nuclear construction codes
- —Knowledge of theories, principles, and techniques for designing structures, piping, and supports
- —Knowledge of rigging and handling practices, standards, and regulations
- —OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety certification
- —Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at a US Nuclear facility
- —Ability to pass Westinghouse physical exam including spirometer test for respirator use
- —Physical ability to occasionally carry/lift up to 50 pounds with full range of motion and access all areas of construction site
Location
Onsite at Columbia Fuel Facility, Columbia, SC. Must be able to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs and access all areas of active construction site.
