Generation Plant Engineer II / III / Senior - Mechanical
About this role
Arizona Public Service (APS) seeks Mechanical Generation Plant Engineers at three levels (II, III, Senior) for nuclear and fossil power generation facilities. Roles involve designing plant modifications, conducting technical analyses, leading engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements. Positions progress from supervised engineering work (Engineer II) through independent technical leadership (Engineer III) to strategic decision-making authority (Senior Engineer).
Responsibilities
- —Analyze and prepare technical reviews, trend analyses, technology assessments, investigations, and product verifications to support decision-making
- —Present technical findings to management, staff, customers, and vendors
- —Identify, communicate, and resolve technical concerns while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and nuclear regulations
- —Interface with customers and cross-functional teams to assess project needs, determine scope, and gather data for key decisions
- —Oversee engineering programs by managing requirements, coordinating with partners, reviewing operating experience, and implementing corrective actions
- —Support projects and modifications aimed at increasing operating efficiency and plant reliability
- —Review project design and documentation to ensure compliance with specifications, schedules, and regulatory requirements (including NRC compliance)
- —Plan, design, schedule, and coordinate small- to medium-scale plant modification projects (Engineer II level)
- —Check and review analyses, evaluations, and investigations of others
- —Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers (Engineer III and Senior levels)
- —Prepare engineering plans, designs, analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and studies (Engineer III and Senior levels)
- —Present design and study results to colleagues, management, and customers with new techniques and approaches
- —Stay current with technology and industry developments to maintain technical expertise
Qualifications
- —Four-year Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline from ABET accredited, IEA recognized, or ABET MRA institution (acceptable disciplines: Mechanical, Nuclear, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Structural, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Metallurgy)
- —Engineer II: 2+ years working experience in engineering-related positions
- —Engineer III: 5+ years working experience in engineering-related positions
- —Senior Engineer: 8+ years working experience in engineering-related positions
