Field Service Technician I
About this role
Field Service Technician supporting Westinghouse nuclear fuel handling and outage-critical equipment at operating nuclear power plants and service centers worldwide. Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot specialized refuel equipment during planned outages and between assignments at the Waltz Mill service center. Role requires unescorted access to nuclear facilities and extensive travel (60–80%).
Responsibilities
- —Install, set-up, maintain, inspect, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot fuel handling and outage-critical refuel equipment at customer nuclear power plant sites worldwide
- —Support equipment maintenance at the Waltz Mill service center between outage assignments
- —Review and follow operational procedures, maintenance procedures, and engineering drawings in detail
- —Participate in training programs to acquire and maintain required certifications and stay current with evolving technology and procedures
- —Maintain 'Safety First' attitude in all activities, demonstrate good housekeeping practices, and comply with hazardous materials protocols
- —Gain and maintain 'Unescorted Access' status at nuclear power plant sites per NRC and customer security requirements
- —Report field work progress, equipment changes, problems, and discrepancies to management during outage shifts
- —Collaborate effectively with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers, and cross-functional departments
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; 2 years post-secondary degree/certificate or equivalent work experience; 2–3 years industrial field experience with demonstrated mechanical abilities; ability to carry and lift 50 pounds; full range of motion; subject to Westinghouse and customer security clearance, unescorted access eligibility, and fitness-for-duty program requirements.
Location
Based in Madison, PA; 60–80% travel by airplane or automobile to specified nuclear power plants. Extensive work with or around hazardous materials and radioactive environments.
