Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 7+ years directly related experience; OR Associate's degree and 9+ years directly related experience; OR High School diploma/GED and 11+ years directly related experience. In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices; industry codes, government regulations, and company policies; and design and operation of complex systems and equipment. Strong oral, written, and graphical communication skills including technical writing. Ability to apply expert knowledge and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve complex engineering problems. Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and analyze results. Excellent organization and project management skills. Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of applicable software programs. Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and in team environments.
About this role
Engineering Technical Consultant supporting Dominion Energy's nuclear fleet to drive improvements in maintenance strategy, preventative maintenance optimization, and long-term asset management. You'll evaluate PM effectiveness, develop optimized maintenance approaches, and collaborate across stations to implement fleetwide reliability enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and determine technical appropriateness of current PM strategies
- Develop optimized maintenance approaches that improve equipment reliability in alignment with industry best practices and fleet initiatives
- Collaborate with station maintenance, engineering, and long-term asset management teams to identify opportunities for PM enhancement
- Support component maintenance and replacement planning across the fleet
- Ensure consistent fleetwide implementation of approved maintenance improvements
- Provide technical input on maintenance-related fleet issues
- Translate lessons learned and best practices between stations
- Perform periodic reviews of industry trends to ensure current maintenance strategies are being used
- Review equipment performance data and failure modes to drive continuous improvement

Office work environment 76-100%; up to 25% travel; may work in cold, confined spaces, dust/grease/oil, energized wires, fumes, heat, loud noise, around operating machinery, outdoors, pressurized lines/valves, and radiation exposure environments up to 25% of the time.
