Required qualifications

  • 4-year Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program; OR 4-year Engineering degree from Washington Accord-accredited institution; OR 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET), Physics, Chemistry, Math, or Engineering Technology with post-graduate Engineering degree from ABET-accredited institution; OR valid U.S. Professional Engineer license
  • For ETS III/Senior Engineer: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • For Staff Engineer: 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (or PhD in Engineering can substitute for up to 5 years)
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices
  • Advanced engineering techniques and problem-solving skills
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Strong technical and organizational leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including technical writing
  • Proficiency with computer applications (Matlab, Excel, engineering calculation software)
  • Proven decision-making and analytical thinking abilities
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes, regulations, and practices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and process information quickly
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments

About this role

Engineering Technical Specialist III, Senior Engineer, or Staff Engineer role supporting the Electrical/I&C Analysis Group at North Anna and Surry Power Stations in Virginia. You'll prepare and review instrument & control system analyses, channel statistical allowance calculations, and design packages for nuclear fleet modernization projects including digital control system conversions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Channel Statistical Allowance (CSA) Calculations
  • Develop and review Instrument Scaling Documents and Instrument Specifications and Standards
  • Conduct dynamic troubleshooting of Instrument & Control Systems
  • Review vendor calculations and design change packages
  • Provide technical support on large-scale projects including control room modernization, ICCM, rod control, and reactor protection system upgrades
  • Complete routine assignments and complex technical work independently with minimal direct supervision

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience with Westinghouse NSSS Instrument & Control Systems
  • Military service background (E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6 equivalent)
