About this role

Dominion Energy seeks an Engineer or Engineering Technical Specialist (Associate to Staff level) to support nuclear operations at the Clover, Virginia nuclear power station. This role spans safety, environmental, operations, welding, electrical, technical, and chemistry functions, offering progression from entry-level engineering to senior technical expertise within the nuclear fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct equipment inspections and quality control assessments at nuclear facility
  • Provide operational support to multiple technical teams including reactor operations and safety systems
  • Perform engineering calculations, analysis, research, and design work on nuclear systems
  • Evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard engineering techniques per NRC requirements
  • Coordinate projects to meet cost and time objectives while maintaining safety culture
  • Develop and exercise leadership skills appropriate to career level
  • Collaborate across departments to foster continuous improvement in nuclear operations
  • Conduct training sessions and mentor junior staff on nuclear systems and protocols
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to share best practices in nuclear safety and efficiency

Qualifications

Associate Engineer: 0–2+ years relevant nuclear or power plant engineering experience; basic knowledge of nuclear engineering concepts and fundamentals; analytical and problem-solving skills. Engineer: 2+ years relevant nuclear/power engineering experience; knowledge of nuclear engineering theories and principles; developmental experience in professional engineering role. Senior Engineer: 5+ years relevant nuclear engineering experience; full knowledge of nuclear theories; advanced technical skills in reactor systems; proven leadership as project lead. Staff Engineer: 8+ years relevant nuclear engineering experience; extensive knowledge of nuclear engineering theories and practices; recognized expert status in nuclear safety or systems design; ability to provide technical guidance. All levels require: oral and written technical communication skills; ability to interpret NRC codes and regulations; ability to work independently or collaboratively; proficiency with engineering software (e.g., Matlab, Excel); Bachelor's degree in ABET-accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology (or equivalent).

Desired

Military service background (E3–E5, W1–W2, or O1–O3 ranks with appropriate nuclear/engineering education and experience); Bachelor's degree preferred for Engineering Technical Specialist roles; experience with nuclear reactor systems or health physics beneficial.
