About this role

Electrical Systems and Components Engineer III/Senior at Arizona Public Service (APS). Provides technical engineering, design, and analytical support for electrical systems at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, including design, specifications, cost estimates, regulatory compliance, and project oversight. Increasing responsibility for technical decisions and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering plans, designs, analyses, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations, studies, technical reviews, investigations and verifications for electrical systems and components
  • Ensure engineering analyses, design, project control, schedule commitments, and oversight work is technically sound, cost effective, and compliant with established standards, codes, and regulations
  • Review and verify analyses, evaluations, and investigations; interface with customers and departments to ensure project objectives align with requirements, budget, and schedule
  • Present design and project results to management, colleagues, and customers; provide technical guidance to department personnel
  • Manage small- to medium-scale projects including planning, designing, scheduling, and coordination; identify and resolve schedule or quality problems
  • Support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and refueling/short-notice outages as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline (Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, etc.) from ABET accredited, IEA recognized, or ABET MRA institution. Engineer III: 5+ years engineering-related experience. Engineer Senior: 8+ years engineering-related experience.

Desired

Experience with batteries, breakers, diesel generators, SEL protective relays (configuring, testing, commissioning, performance analysis); nuclear or utility industry experience; Professional Engineer (PE) licensure; knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety practices in electrical engineering discipline.

Location

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS), Arizona. May be subject to shift work.
