EHS Specialist
About this role
EHS Specialist at Westinghouse supporting nuclear energy operations. Develop and implement environmental, health, and safety policies; investigate incidents; conduct compliance audits; and maintain stakeholder relationships across nuclear facilities and clean energy projects.
Responsibilities
- —Represent environmental issues and opportunities in areas of RCRA, plant waste streams (used oil, general waste, universal waste, solid waste, hazardous waste)
- —Identify and reduce hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments
- —Investigate accidents and environmental incidents, working with engineers, management, and regulatory authorities to identify causes and prevent recurrence
- —Conduct and facilitate assessments, implement corrections and controls, or partner with sites and departments on implementation
- —Provide advice and training on environmental and safety protocols
- —Conduct audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards
- —Promote development and sharing of health and safety learning, including operating experience, lessons learned, and best practices
- —Support site environmental programs, tools, and standards development with training and communication
- —Support improvement projects through data analysis related to site-specific environmental issues
- —Promote health and safety awareness through employee communications, participation, and programs
- —Maintain relationships with community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by organizational environmental performance
- —Safely operate a forklift and manage site waste including hazardous waste shipments, universal waste shipments, and roll-off management
Qualifications
1+ years of progressive experience in a moderate to high industrial safety/health risk workplace; environmental waste management experience; RCRA training completion; experience working with hazardous waste or in an environmental/safety role; ability to interpret complex documents; strong records management skills; ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a team setting; willingness to safely operate a forklift and manage site waste
