About this role

Discipline Scheduler at Talen Energy develops and maintains detailed, logic-tied outage and online work schedules for nuclear plant disciplines using Primavera P6. The role integrates maintenance, surveillance, and modification work while managing safety, compliance, risk, and resource utilization across refueling and maintenance outages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed logic-tied, resource-loaded schedules for outage and online work in Primavera P6, including work windows, milestones, constraints, and activity sequencing
  • Integrate surveillance, preventive, corrective, elective, and modification work into executable schedules aligned with approved scope and station priorities
  • Coordinate with planners, engineers, maintenance, operations, projects, radiation protection, supply chain, and vendors to ensure schedule accuracy and alignment
  • Review work orders, task lists, durations, manpower estimates, prerequisites, and implementation assumptions to validate schedule credibility
  • Validate and maintain resource loading; support development of manpower curves, shift strategies, and work execution assumptions
  • Identify schedule conflicts, interface risks, bottlenecks, and resource constraints; recommend mitigation solutions
  • Track and communicate schedule restraints (material, engineering, procedure, walkdown, vendor, clearance, and approval impacts)
  • Update schedules during outage execution to reflect actual progress, emergent scope, revised priorities, and resource changes
  • Support integrated and readiness reviews, risk reviews, and outage status meetings
  • Ensure schedules reflect Technical Specification constraints, shutdown risk expectations, ALARA considerations, and training requirements
  • Perform schedule analysis to support path management, recovery planning, and contingency development
  • Participate in outage critiques, self-assessments, corrective action reviews, and lessons learned activities
  • Perform Emergency Response Organization duties as qualified

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, or related technical discipline; or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in outage planning, outage scheduling, work management, project controls, maintenance planning, or similar role in nuclear generation or comparably regulated heavy industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of nuclear plant operations, outage execution, work management processes, and schedule governance
  • Working knowledge of Technical Specifications, shutdown risk management, ALARA considerations, and station procedures
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, including logic-tied schedule development, schedule analysis, updating, and reporting
  • Working knowledge of plant work management systems (NIMS or equivalent)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and support extended hours during outage execution

Desired

  • Experience supporting refueling, forced, or maintenance outages in commercial nuclear generating stations
  • Experience updating integrated schedules during outage execution and supporting emergent work integration, schedule recovery, and contingency planning
  • Experience coordinating schedule interfaces with maintenance, engineering, operations, projects, vendors, and outage support organizations
  • Plant-specific qualification, certification, or equivalent demonstrated nuclear operations, maintenance, planning, or scheduling experience
