About this role

Senior site leadership position at TerraPower's Kemmerer Power Station (advanced reactor facility). Director of Engineering serves as Design Authority and single-point accountable owner for all engineering disciplines, reporting to the Plant General Manager. Responsible for unified governance of engineering programs, regulatory compliance with NRC requirements and federal standards, and integration of engineering across operations, maintenance, construction, and startup activities.

Responsibilities

  • Own and govern all station engineering programs including standards, policies, procedures, resource allocation, and staffing models
  • Serve as Design Authority with final approval authority for program standards, major policies, engineering procedures, and authority to stop/restrict work based on engineering analysis
  • Ensure Design Engineering, System Engineering, and Fire/Aging Management Engineering activities comply with NRC regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards
  • Govern staffing models, qualification requirements, and training standards for the engineering organization
  • Ensure integration of engineering requirements into operations, maintenance, work planning, and construction/startup activities
  • Provide executive-level technical and programmatic input to site leadership on plant risk, conditions, and operational decisions
  • Lead engineering support responses for plant events in coordination with emergency preparedness and site response organizations
  • Develop and manage budgets and long-range resource plans for engineering programs
  • Own performance monitoring, self-assessment, and corrective action programs for engineering functions
  • Serve as primary site interface with NRC and regulatory oversight organizations on engineering matters
  • Lead audits, inspections, readiness reviews, and management assessments affecting engineering programs

Preferred qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
  • Previous SRO License or SRO Certification
  • Experience governing engineering programs in nuclear industry
  • Demonstrated track record of programmatic performance improvement and corrective action leadership
