Diesel Generator Engineer
About this role
Diesel Generator Engineer at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (dual-unit nuclear facility, PA). This role focuses on engineering analysis, design, and optimization of Emergency Diesel Generators and related electrical systems. You'll work independently to develop technical solutions, improve system reliability, and interface directly with Operations, Maintenance, and Station Leadership on critical safety and availability initiatives.
Responsibilities
- —Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs for Emergency Diesel Generators and assigned electrical systems
- —Develop and implement trending and monitoring plans for assigned systems/components to ensure safe and reliable equipment performance
- —Demonstrate ownership of assigned systems and advocate for system performance improvement opportunities
- —Provide technical expertise and consultation to identify and resolve equipment and system problems
- —Investigate, evaluate, and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations
- —Directly interface with Operations, Maintenance, and Station Leadership regarding system issues and improvement initiatives
- —Build relationships to facilitate knowledge transfer across work groups and present work products effectively
- —Develop procedures, design recommendations, and equipment purchase recommendations
- —Review industry operating experience and collaborate with industry peers to apply lessons learned for improving system performance
Qualifications
- —BS Degree in Engineering
- —Meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access
- —Minimum 2 years related engineering experience (Support Engineer level) or at least 5 years at a commercial nuclear reactor facility (Sr. Engineer level)
Desired
- —Working knowledge of Emergency Diesel Generators or electrical distribution systems
- —Previous commercial nuclear experience
- —Familiarity with electrical design requirements for nuclear power plants
- —Professional Engineer Registration
Location
Onsite at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station near Berwick, Pennsylvania, approximately 30 miles south of Wilkes-Barre.
