Decontamination Technician
About this role
Decontamination Technician performing housekeeping and decontamination activities in radiological control areas at Westinghouse's Surry, VA nuclear facility. You'll operate specialized decontamination equipment, maintain compliance with NRC radiation protection requirements, and support reactor operations through contamination control.
Responsibilities
- —Perform housekeeping and decontamination activities in all Radiological Control Areas
- —Operate specialized equipment including high-pressure washers, laundry machines, RP meters, sprayers, vacuums, pendant cranes, and hoists
- —Certify to all decon-specific tasks as directed by the Radiation Protection department
- —Work in adverse conditions including high temperatures and confined spaces while maintaining radiation safety protocols
- —Comply with all NRC and facility requirements to maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities
Qualifications
- —High School Diploma or GED
- —Pass drug test and security background check
- —Ability to climb ladders and work at multiple heights
- —Able to lift 50 pounds
- —Ability to understand oral and written communications, technical requirements, procedures, and directives
- —Willingness to complete training and certification for equipment operation
- —Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access clearance
Desired
- —Respirator physical and training certification
Location
Onsite at Westinghouse Surry, VA plant or other assigned locations; work in high temperatures and confined spaces; may require shift work as needed.
