Decontamination Technician
About this role
Decontamination Technician role at Westinghouse nuclear facilities. You will perform housekeeping and decontamination activities in Radiological Control Areas, operate specialized equipment (high-pressure washers, RP meters, vacuums, small cranes/hoists), and work in challenging nuclear plant environments including high temperatures and confined spaces. Role requires strict adherence to nuclear safety, security, and radiological control protocols.
Responsibilities
- —Perform housekeeping and decontamination activities in all Radiological Control Areas
- —Operate test equipment and machines including high-pressure washers, laundry machines, RP meters, vacuums, and small pendant cranes/hoists
- —Work at multiple heights using ladders; lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- —Complete training and certification to operate assigned decontamination equipment
- —Understand and follow oral and written communications, technical requirements, procedures, and directives associated with nuclear plant operations
- —Work in adverse conditions such as high temperatures and confined spaces
- —Certify to all Decon-specific tasks as directed by the Radiation Protection department
Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or GED; pass drug test and security background check; meet all applicable requirements to maintain unescorted access at nuclear facilities (DOE Q Clearance or equivalent).
Desired
Respirator physical and training certification; prior experience with decontamination or housekeeping in regulated environments.
Location
Onsite at assigned nuclear plant facility. Work includes potential respirator use, high-temperature environments, and confined spaces. Shift pattern not specified.
