Consulting Engineer-Civil Design Surry
About this role
Consulting Engineer for civil design at Surry Nuclear Station (Dominion Energy). Provide multi-discipline technical leadership on complex civil engineering problems and major nuclear facility projects. Requires 10+ years of relevant engineering experience and ABET-accredited engineering degree.
Responsibilities
- —Provide strong technical and project leadership within engineering discipline and on major nuclear projects
- —Apply advanced knowledge to solve complex civil engineering problems at nuclear facilities
- —Plan and coordinate large-scale engineering projects with diverse knowledge requirements
- —Provide expert technical consultation to engineering personnel and management on nuclear-related issues
- —Serve as management consultant on complex engineering problems and regulatory compliance matters
- —Control technical, financial, and service commitments to internal and external customers
- —Perform independent research to develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions for nuclear operations
Qualifications
- —10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience (or PhD in engineering substituting up to 5 years of research work)
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program or equivalent
- —In-depth knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices
- —Knowledge of business, financial, and contractual matters
- —Advanced proficiency with engineering software (Matlab, Excel, CAD tools) and computer applications
- —Strong planning and project management skills
- —Strong technical and organizational leadership skills
- —Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and nuclear industry practices
- —Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- —Ability to manage multiple tasks and process information quickly
Desired
- —Professional Engineer (PE) license
- —Experience with nuclear facility civil design or nuclear regulatory standards (10 CFR 50)
Location
Surry, Virginia. Up to 25% travel. Office work environment 76–100%. Potential exposure to cold, heat, loud noise, radiation, energized wires, machinery operation, outdoor conditions, and dust/grease/oil up to 25%.
