Minimum five years related civil or structural engineering experience in nuclear or relevant industry (Senior Engineer level)

About this role

Civil Engineer at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, a 2700 MW dual-unit BWR nuclear facility near Berwick, Pennsylvania. Design and analyze civil/structural systems for safety-related and non-safety-related structures. Work independently to resolve plant issues, support design modifications, and ensure compliance with NRC and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement engineering analysis, design activities, and programs for civil/structural systems

Identify and resolve equipment and system problems through technical consultation with Operations, Maintenance, and Station Leadership

Investigate, evaluate, and produce technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations to solve ongoing plant problems

Lead multi-discipline teams as Lead Responsible Engineer for plant design changes; prepare and review design change packages and calculations per plant procedures

Perform inspections of structures, systems, and components in nuclear plant industrial areas

Participate in Emergency Response Organization with assigned duty; provide support for outages, emergent issues, and generation challenges including shift work availability

Assist in developing procedures and new equipment purchase recommendations; facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer

Preferred qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania or another state, with ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensing within one year of hire

Previous commercial nuclear experience

Knowledge of AISC and ACI design codes

Knowledge of NRC requirements for safety-related structures

Working knowledge of Seismic/Dynamic Qualification Program, Heavy Load Program, and Tornado-generated Missile Impact considerations

Experience with rigging evaluations and temporary shielding evaluations

Location, schedule, and travel

On-site at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station near Berwick, Pennsylvania. Shift work and off-hours availability required. Ability to inspect structures in industrial nuclear plant areas required.
