Associate/Mid-Level/ Senior Chemistry Technician
About this role
Cope Generating Station (nuclear) seeks an Associate, Chemistry, or Senior Chemistry Technician to manage plant water chemistry, environmental compliance, and laboratory operations at this nuclear facility. This role directly supports safe, reliable nuclear power generation through chemical analysis of reactor coolant systems, water treatment operations, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- —Collect and analyze samples from plant processes including water treatment, condensate, feedwater, and wastewater systems
- —Perform chemical analyses and provide direction for control and adjustment of process chemistry to maintain nuclear safety standards
- —Conduct plant water and wastewater analyses to ensure compliance with environmental permits and NRC regulations
- —Provide guidance to plant personnel on chemistry matters, material safety, and chemical spill response
- —Maintain and calibrate in-line chemistry analyzers
- —Operate and maintain water treatment facility to produce process water for the nuclear station
- —Operate and regenerate ultra-pure demineralized water system for clean condensate and feedwater
- —Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory, process, and environmental equipment on and off-site
- —Respond to occasional overtime and call-outs; provide coverage for every-other-weekend rotations and holidays
Qualifications
Associate Chemistry Technician: Associate degree + 2+ years related experience OR high school diploma + 5+ years related experience. Chemistry Technician: Associate degree + 3+ years related experience OR high school diploma + 7+ years related experience. Senior Chemistry Technician: Associate degree + 5+ years related experience OR high school diploma + 10+ years related experience. Must possess knowledge of analytical chemistry, laboratory concepts, techniques, environmental regulations, and computer applications. Must obtain and maintain South Carolina Physical/Chemical Wastewater D License (or higher). Must qualify for and maintain annual respirator certification. Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in thermal extremes, access confined spaces and elevated platforms, and respond to emergency call-outs. Mechanically inclined.
Desired
BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology, or related discipline; strong computer skills and software proficiency; EEI Technician test results recommended.
Location
Cope, South Carolina; on-site with up to 25% travel. Physically demanding: standing for prolonged periods, exposure to fumes, loud noise, hazardous materials and chemicals, hot/cold/noisy environments. Every-other-weekend rotation required including some holidays.
