Associate Equipment Operator
About this role
Associate Equipment Operator at a Constellation nuclear power plant. You will operate, inspect, and service plant equipment through manual and remote controls, monitor system status, maintain operational logs, and support emergency response and radiation safety protocols. This role is ideal for candidates with technical experience in power production, industrial operations, or nuclear facilities seeking to launch a career in nuclear energy.
Responsibilities
- —Operate manually controlled and remotely controlled equipment from locations other than the central control room
- —Determine operating status of equipment from previous shift personnel and log entries
- —Identify causes of operating problems and report to supervisor
- —Maintain logs recording unusual events and changes in operating conditions
- —Provide direction and operations training to all personnel
- —Perform fire protection duties including response to fire, rescue, hazardous material incidents, and first aid
- —Support decontamination, housekeeping, painting work, and other duties as assigned
- —Perform emergency response duties as assigned
- —Complete Equipment Operator qualification book
Qualifications
- —Meet ANSI standard for this position
- —Ability to read basic diagrams and prints
- —Pass required NRC license physical examination
- —Pass POSS and BMST
- —Pass NRC psychological testing
- —Complete Plant Access Training
- —Complete Radiation Safety Training including Respirator Qualifications and maintain unescorted access
- —Complete fire brigade member qualifications
- —Complete Radwaste Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications
- —Be physically capable of performing essential functions of the position
Desired
- —1 year of technical experience in power production, petrochemical, or industrial process plants
- —2 years of operations or maintenance experience at a non-generating nuclear facility (e.g., Navy Nuclear or DOE facility)
- —Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science
- —Associates of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science
- —43 credit hours of post-secondary education with 75% (at least 32 hours) in advanced math, physics, chemistry, or engineering
- —CPR certification
Location
Onsite at nuclear power plant; shift work; requires physical capability to perform job functions; targeted start October 2026; $48.50/hour
