Travel I&E Tech I, II, III - Nuclear
About this role
Traveling Instrumentation & Controls Technician at Duke Energy nuclear facilities in the Carolinas. Maintain and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic I&C systems across multiple power plants with up to 100% travel. Requires unescorted nuclear access and DOT medical certification.
Responsibilities
- —Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation & control systems
- —Read and interpret I&C and electrical control drawings, work orders, and plans
- —Perform assigned maintenance activities independently or within team settings
- —Develop proficiency with calibration equipment, specialty tooling, and company software systems (Maximo, CAS, Tags Pro, eSOMs, Nantel)
- —Understand and follow all applicable safety standards using human performance tools and techniques
- —Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure no reportable incidents in assigned areas
- —Communicate effectively with maintenance personnel regarding work progress and difficulties
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or equivalent
- —Valid driver's license
- —Completion of Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) aptitude testing
- —DOT medical card required
- —Obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear access
Desired
- —One year of closely related experience on electrical bus systems
- —Experience troubleshooting electrical/instrumentation equipment
- —Experience reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and one-line drawings
- —Experience utilizing electrical/instrumentation test equipment
- —Experience with lockout/tagout (LOTO) of electrical equipment
- —Currently hold nuclear access
- —Experience with power plant generator breaker maintenance
Location
Based at McGuire Office Complex in Huntersville, NC. Travel up to 100% required. Must live within reasonable daily commute to assigned location. Shift work, weekends, and overtime expected. Physical demands: standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, work at heights, confined spaces, extreme weather/temperature/pressure exposure, high voltage electrical systems.
