Required qualifications

Master's or Doctorate in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or related energy field. 5+ years of post-education experience in technology scouting, product development, innovation management, or related roles in energy, aeronautics, space, or similar high-end industrial sectors. Strong knowledge of emerging technologies and nuclear sector applications. Strategic thinking ability to align technology initiatives with long-term business goals. Demonstrated expertise in evaluating technical feasibility and commercial viability.

About this role

Lead technology scouting for Westinghouse across EMEA, identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, startups, and research aligned with nuclear energy innovation strategy. Bridge academic breakthroughs and industry trends with practical business applications to support near-term objectives and game-changing long-term advances.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver Westinghouse's technology vision spanning incremental innovation to breakthrough opportunities
  • Monitor global innovation ecosystems, industry conferences, and publications to assess opportunities and competitive threats
  • Research and identify emerging technologies, startups, academic research, and industry trends aligned with strategic objectives
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, proof of concept (POC) analysis, and due diligence on technologies applicable to nuclear energy
  • Build and maintain relationships with startups, research institutions, universities, and technology accelerators
  • Collaborate with internal R&D, engineering, and business units to identify customer pain points and technology gaps
  • Assess applicability of existing Westinghouse technology and recommend new development areas
  • Identify external funding opportunities (government grants, private investment) to mature technologies
  • Align funded projects with policy maker priorities to increase innovation funding capacity
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders via memos, business opportunity papers, and make-vs-buy analyses

Preferred qualifications

Excellent analytical and communication skills with ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences. Proven ability to build networks within innovation ecosystems. Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
