About this role
Intermediate-level engineering position at American Electric Power supporting nuclear and fossil plant operations, power system projects, and specialized control systems. Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level engineering work on nuclear/fossil plant operations, system production, underground systems, and control systems projects
- Serve as technical resource for thermo-hydraulic control systems, distribution standards, and specialized plant systems
- Lead and coordinate work activities within assigned teams and departments
- Develop, recommend, and implement engineering plans including scheduling, resource allocation, and cost control for complex problems
- Identify, clarify, and resolve complex engineering problems requiring multi-functional or cross-organizational collaboration
- Prepare and present technical information to senior management, regulatory bodies, and professional organizations
- Build and maintain technical networks across AEP, industry partners, regulatory agencies, and academia
- Make technical decisions based on calculated risk assessment and analysis of uncertain outcomes
Preferred qualifications
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination in preparation for Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
Location, schedule, and travel
On-site in Tulsa, OK; sedentary work involving sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing
