Sr. Safety Specialist
About this role
Sr. Safety Specialist role at Entergy focused on nuclear facility safety risk assessment, incident investigation, and mentorship of safety professionals. This position examines worksites for environmental and physical hazards, conducts safety analyses, implements nuclear safety programs, and leads root cause analysis of safety events.
Responsibilities
- —Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of nuclear safety programs in accordance with management system elements
- —Conduct training to ensure applicable nuclear rules, procedures, and expectations are understood
- —Conduct engagements and observations with employees and contract partners providing immediate coaching on safe and unsafe conditions
- —Lead, plan and schedule field and site inspections, document deficiencies, and develop sustainable solutions to prevent repeat findings
- —Lead the incident investigation process including root cause analysis and identification of corrective actions
- —Set and reinforce safe work expectations in accordance with applicable nuclear laws, rules, procedures, and expectations
- —Review safety related data and metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
- —Stop work if there is any unsafe condition
- —Provide mentoring to other safety professionals
- —Take an active role in the planning of upcoming work to help identify potential safety issues and solutions
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree preferred
- —6-10 years industry experience with a minimum of 3 years in safety
- —ASP, CUSP, or OSHA 500 certification (or equivalent)
- —Working knowledge of construction and general industry safety regulations
- —Ability to observe and engage with employees and contract partners
- —Experience with investigation/RCA tools such as TapRoot, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, Five Whys, etc.
- —Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends
- —Strong oral and written communication skills
- —Excellent organizational skills
- —Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
- —Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required
Location
Onsite in Westwego, Louisiana; up to 25% travel; ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required
