Simulator Software Engineer
About this role
Constellation is seeking a Simulator Software Engineer to create and maintain simulation software logic and dynamic models for the Clinton Nuclear Power Station Main Control Room Simulator. This role offers the opportunity to work independently on simulator enhancements, support the training department, and collaborate across engineering teams. The position is available at both the Simulator Software Engineer and Sr. Simulator Software Engineer levels.
Responsibilities
- —Participate in planning, designing, building, and managing simulator solutions for CEC Main Control Room projects
- —Create, modify, and document simulation software logic and dynamic models to meet business needs
- —Perform software configuration management and participate in technology solution assessments
- —Review peers' code and advocate for standard development methodologies
- —Identify risks and issues affecting projects and provide recommendations
- —Provide backup support to other simulator software engineers with minimal assistance
- —Engage with business partners to gather requirements and deliver cost-effective solutions
- —Participate in projects across the fleet as required and support outage activities
- —Perform emergency response and departmental coverage duties as directed
Qualifications
Simulator Software Engineer: Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical, or nuclear) or related science with 2 years of related programming experience; OR Associate's degree in engineering or related science with 4 years of related programming experience. Sr. Simulator Software Engineer: Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, civil/structural, electrical, industrial, mechanical, or nuclear) or related science with 5 years of related programming experience; OR Associate's degree in engineering or related science with 7 years of related programming experience. All candidates must maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements as applicable and pass favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
Desired
- —Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or nuclear engineering
- —Proficiency in FORTRAN and C programming languages
- —Knowledge of graphic design software
- —Experience with Visual Studio
- —Experience with engineering print reading
- —Experience leading small projects or sub-teams
- —Experience with GIT configuration management
- —Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Operating Systems
Location
Clinton, IL; onsite at Clinton Nuclear Power Station; includes support for outage activities and emergency response duties
