Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One of the following: (1) 1 year RO license at comparable BWR facility; (2) 1.5 years RO license at non-comparable (PWR/BWR conversion) facility; (3) 1.5+ years military reactor position equivalent (Power Plant Watch Engineer, Engineering Watch Supervisor, Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor); (4) 4-year engineering or physical sciences degree plus 1.5+ years as qualified non-licensed operator/staff in operations, engineering, outage management, maintenance, radiation protection, or chemistry at comparable facility; (5) current or previous SRO Instructor certification with 4 years comparable or 6 years non-comparable facility experience
- Maintain minimum access or unescorted access eligibility per facility security requirements
- Pass favorable medical examination and testing per position duties
About this role
Constellation is recruiting Initial License Trainees (ILT) to become NRC-licensed Senior Reactor Operators (SRO) at Nine Mile Point Generating Station (BWR, Units 1 & 2) in Oswego, New York. Successful trainees will serve as Operations Shift Supervisors, overseeing licensed reactor operators and equipment operators in the control room during shift operations.
Responsibilities
- Complete Initial License Training (ILT) including classroom instruction, NRC examinations, on-the-job training, and simulator evaluation
- Successfully obtain NRC SRO License through all training phases
- Perform duties as Operations Shift Supervisor upon licensure, directly supervising licensed reactor operators and equipment operators in the reactor control room
- Execute emergency response procedures, provide departmental coverage, respond to call-outs, and support refueling outage activities as directed
Preferred qualifications
- Previous SRO Instructor certification
Location, schedule, and travel
Oswego, New York. Shift work with rotating schedules; extended hours compensated at 1.5x base salary. Relocation assistance may be available.
