Senior Engineer/Engineer III - Electrical Design – Robinson Nuclear Plant Location: Hartsville, SC.
About this role
Senior Engineer/Engineer III in Electrical Design at Duke Energy's Robinson Nuclear Plant. Develop engineering design changes for AC/DC power systems, motors, transformers, and switchgear to support nuclear fleet modernization and risk reduction. Work directly with safety-critical electrical infrastructure at an operating reactor facility.
Responsibilities
- —Develop scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes including AC power systems, DC power systems, large AC motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, voltage regulators, and breakers
- —Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and present recommendations to resolve issues
- —Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support
- —Develop or revise design specifications and technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes
- —Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes
- —Develop safety screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes
- —Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited program (or Master's in Electrical Engineering); Senior Engineer: minimum 6 years engineering experience or 5 years with PE registration; Engineer III: minimum 4 years experience or 3 years with PE registration
- —Minimum 1 year of nuclear power plant experience
- —Able to achieve and maintain nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance
- —Able to meet ANSI requirements per Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011 (Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications)
Desired
- —State registration as a Professional Engineer
- —Working level knowledge of ETAP software program
- —Working level knowledge of nuclear industry cyber security control practices
- —Experience with nuclear industry standard design process
- —Proficient in project management principles and utility industry experience
Location
Hartsville, SC. Hybrid after 6–9 month onboarding (initially onsite daily). Must live within reasonable commute. 5–15% travel. May require Emergency Response Organization call-outs and on-call duty rotation. PPE required; occasional overnight travel.
