Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel (Regulatory)

Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel position at Entergy providing legal analysis and strategic advice on regulatory, corporate, litigation, and compliance matters for a major US nuclear utility. Responsibilities include managing complex regulatory and litigation matters, supervising legal staff, and conducting first-chair trial and appellate work.
Responsibilities
- —Provide legal analysis and advice on key policies, courses of action, rules, systems, and processes in strategically important areas
- —Analyze business and financial transactions, litigation and related legal documents, and evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements
- —Analyze key issues, organize thoughts, and advocate legal positions with minimal supervision
- —Draft legal documents, negotiate matters, and perform assigned job functions
- —Manage dockets and conduct first-chair trial and appellate work, or lead major non-litigation matters as applicable
- —Manage outside counsel effectively and efficiently
- —Supervise paraprofessionals and administrative staff; manage internal and external attorneys
- —Lead project teams to successful resolution and deliver difficult or controversial messages to diverse audiences
- —Develop management skills and mentor other attorneys
Qualifications
- —Juris Doctor degree
- —Senior Counsel: 6+ years in-house or law firm experience in Regulatory (federal/state), Corporate/Commercial, Litigation, Labor & Employment, Nuclear, or Environmental law
- —Assistant General Counsel: 9+ years in-house or law firm experience in Regulatory (federal/state), Corporate/Commercial, Litigation, Labor & Employment, Nuclear, or Environmental law
- —Highly skilled in complex analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in area of practice
- —Solid grasp of rules, guidelines, and company policies
- —Strong written and oral communication skills
- —Collaborative approach and detailed industry knowledge
- —Demonstrated judgment, personal accountability, and integrity
- —Ability to respond effectively to multiple and conflicting demands
