Safety Analysis Engineer
About this role
Safety Analysis Engineer responsible for designing and developing safety analyses that form the basis for Oklo's advanced reactor license applications. You'll perform quantitative and qualitative safety analyses, develop safety bases, and collaborate with regulatory and design engineers on key licensing deliverables.
Responsibilities
- —Perform safety analysis using quantitative and qualitative methodologies
- —Develop safety bases for reactor systems
- —Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to establish functional, performance, and safety requirements and engineer optimized mitigations
- —Execute licensing projects and contribute strategically to licensing deliverables
- —Manage projects for interdisciplinary engineering teams
- —Develop analytical and computational methods and models
- —Review regulatory documents and codes
- —Conduct modeling and simulation for reactor transient analysis
- —Document work and write technical reports using modern tools and techniques
Qualifications
- —Proficiency with thermal-hydraulics analysis
- —Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering
- —Experience with reactor transient analysis methods
- —Fluency with Python
Desired
- —Experience with systems-level analysis codes such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1, SAM, RELAP, TRACE, GOTHIC, or equivalent
- —Core competencies in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics first principles
- —Professional experience developing or amending safety case analyses on high-hazard or highly-regulated facilities
- —Prior experience developing or amending safety bases for NRC-licensed or DOE-authorized nuclear facilities
- —Experience with specific safety analyses such as steam line break or fuel relocation analysis
- —Knowledge of fast reactors and fuel cycle activities
- —Competency with modern software engineering practices and programming languages
- —Experience with CI/CD computing environments
Location
Remote with required travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice quarterly; first two weeks of onboarding in-person at headquarters.
