Regulatory Engineer
About this role
Regulatory Engineer responsible for navigating NRC licensing frameworks for advanced fission technologies at Oklo. This role combines deep regulatory expertise with hands-on technical work, including preparation of licensing documentation (FSAR), regulatory research, design engineering support, and strategic licensing issue resolution for a fast-moving advanced reactor company.
Responsibilities
- —Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation (e.g., Final Safety Analysis Report)
- —Perform regulatory research on NRC requirements, precedent, and guidance; develop approaches to addressing regulations
- —Interface with technical engineering teams, reviewing technical material and providing regulatory feedback on design
- —Support or manage internal and external regulatory interactions and lead resolution of key strategic licensing issues
- —Perform design engineering work: document technical analysis using modern tools and develop technical reports
Qualifications
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in technical field (nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, physics, or related discipline)
Desired
Experience with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or Department of Energy (DOE) requirements; experience with research, test, or commercial nuclear reactors; familiarity with consensus-based nuclear and non-nuclear codes and standards.
Location
Remote with required travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice per quarter for team meetings and company events.
