Regulatory Affairs Compliance Engineer
About this role
Licensing Engineer role at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, a dual-unit Boiling Water Reactor site near Berwick, Pennsylvania. Evaluate engineering assignments, ensure regulatory compliance with NRC requirements, and support licensing basis activities for one of the largest BWR sites in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- —Evaluate, plan, and conduct engineering assignments independently or as part of a project team
- —Lead engineers, technicians, analysts, or others within work groups or cross-functional teams as required
- —Review design documentation to determine compliance with Licensing basis criteria or standards
- —Develop License Amendment Requests and prepare licensee responses to NRC requests
- —Review station conditions for applicable reporting requirements
- —Provide functional support for regulatory programs including 10 CFR 50.59 and commitment management
- —Provide regulatory advice and interpretation of Licensing documents, Technical Specifications, and 50.59 requirements
- —Interact with NRC personnel on inspections, regulatory issues, and pending NRC actions
- —Communicate issues and results to leadership and impacted organizations
- —Support the Corrective Action Program through screening team and condition reviews for regulatory impacts
- —Represent Talen Energy in industry regulatory activities and external organization interactions
- —Schedule work to meet completion dates, station needs, and technical specifications
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, engineering technology, or related science discipline from ABET-accredited college or university
- —For Support Engineer level: Minimum 2 years related engineering experience
- —For Senior Engineer level: Minimum 5 years related engineering experience
Desired
- —Engineer in Training Certificate
- —Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for the specific position
- —Professional Engineering registration in Pennsylvania
- —Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and experience with validation, verification, and testing of potential nuclear applications
Location
On-site at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station near Berwick, Pennsylvania (less than 30 miles south of Wilkes-Barre)
