Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related scientific/physical science discipline (or equivalent work experience at Engineer/Technical Specialist level)
- Engineer I: 0+ years experience in nuclear power design or operations
- Engineer II: 2+ years experience in nuclear power design or operations
- Engineer III: 4+ years experience in nuclear power design or operations
- Senior Engineer: 6+ years experience in nuclear power design or operations
- Good to excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in PC use and applications
- Senior level only: ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978 Section 4.4.1 Reactor Engineering qualification (Bachelor's in Engineering or Physical Sciences, 4 years experience in reactor physics/core measurements/core heat transfer/core physics testing with 2 years at a nuclear power plant, or graduate degree with 3 years equivalent experience)
About this role
Reactor Engineer position (I, II, III, or Senior level based on qualifications) at Entergy's Louisiana nuclear facility. Provides technical leadership for reactor core performance, fuel management, and special nuclear material accountability. Serves as subject matter expert supporting operations and engineering teams on core-related topics, reactivity management, and fuel reliability.
Responsibilities
- Manage core performance monitoring, trending, and fuel management configuration control
- Administer Special Nuclear Material (SNM) Accountability program
- Evaluate core component lifetime and provide replacement instructions
- Support training of Operations and Engineering teams on fuel and core-related topics
- Serve as site fuel reliability monitor and champion the fuel reliability program
- Support Operations for maneuvers, core analysis, and operating limits considerations
- Provide technical guidance on Reactivity Control and Management
- Manage reactor core-related surveillances and startup testing
- Monitor maintenance and revisions to Reactor Engineering procedures
- Support dry fuel storage activities and irradiated core component disposal
- Support core reload design analysis and batch reload implementation
Preferred qualifications
- SRO (Senior Reactor Operator) license or certification on PWR or BWR
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite in St. Francisville, Louisiana; up to 25% travel
