Required qualifications

  • Ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Project teams
  • Demonstrated ability to make clear, defensible quality decisions in a highly regulated environment

About this role

Quality Engineer providing technical quality engineering support for materials, pressure-retaining components, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code compliance at Oklo Inc. You'll ensure items and services are specified, procured, tested, documented, and accepted with the rigor needed for safe and reliable advanced nuclear reactor projects.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve quality engineering controls in accordance with ASME NQA-1, ANSI/ANS-15.8, and applicable ASME BPVC requirements
  • Serve as technical quality resource for ASME BPVC matters and guide cross-functional discussions on Code requirements, material provisions, and certification expectations
  • Review drawings, specifications, requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier documents to verify Code, material, testing, inspection, and quality assurance requirements are clearly identified
  • Ensure materials conform to ASME, ASTM, SA/SB, and project specifications by verifying grade, form, dimensions, condition, heat treatment, chemical composition, mechanical properties, and traceability
  • Establish and administer the certified material test report program including receipt, review, approval, discrepancy control, and retention
  • Analyze CMTRs, material test reports, certificates of conformance, laboratory reports, and related objective evidence for completeness, authenticity, and specification compliance
  • Provide technical guidance on material testing and acceptance strategies including chemical analysis, positive material identification, tensile testing, impact testing, hardness testing, metallography, and nondestructive examination
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Certifying Engineer Program defining responsibilities, competency requirements, training, qualification, and performance monitoring
  • Perform or coordinate technical reviews supporting Certifying Engineer decisions and verify certifications are based on complete objective evidence
  • Support qualification and oversight of material organizations, ASME certificate holders, manufacturers, fabricators, testing laboratories, and other critical suppliers
  • Provide quality engineering oversight of special processes including welding, brazing, heat treatment, nondestructive examination, and other controlled fabrication activities
  • Develop and maintain inspection and test plans, quality requirement matrices, material control procedures, receiving inspection criteria, and hold/witness points
  • Participate in design, procurement, supplier, fabrication, and readiness reviews to identify Code interfaces and material risks early
  • Evaluate nonconformance reports, deviations, and material discrepancies; support technically sound dispositions and corrective actions
  • Support commercial grade dedication activities by identifying critical characteristics, acceptance criteria, verification methods, and traceability needs
