Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field with 3+ years qualified experience; OR Associate's degree with 5+ years; OR High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years
- Qualified experience in outage management, major construction, project estimating/controls, or comparable experience in competitive production environments
- Knowledge of construction safety, negotiations, scope development/control, cost estimating, contracting, project controls, and quality control
- Valid state driver's license
About this role
Senior Project Manager role at AEP managing base, intermediate, and complex projects in a matrix environment. Lead project planning, execution, and closure across AEP's nuclear and utility operations while developing team capabilities and stakeholder relationships with internal teams, plant staff, contractors, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate assigned project activities; act on behalf of lead project manager during absences
- Develop and implement project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile); ensure compliance with AEP project management standards
- Support AEP System Safety Process and maintain Zero Harm focus in all project environments
- Develop, review, and coordinate project plans, schedules, budgets, tools, staffing, and procurement plans
- Communicate project status updates, lead planning meetings and stakeholder presentations; manage contracts and RFP development
- Provide guidance on design, systems, procedures, schedules, and costs; coach team members on project management skills
- Conduct project closeout processes and analyze project success against objectives and benefits realization
Preferred qualifications
- 3 years as Project Manager Associate (Grade 6) or demonstrated competencies in shorter timeline
- Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, or IT systems
- PMP certification
- Leadership, team building, and meeting management skills aligned with AEP competencies
