About this role

Programs Engineer supporting Southern Nuclear's Fleet Plant Support Department across multiple nuclear facilities. Provides technical leadership in specialized programs including Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, and Cable Monitoring. Ensures code and regulatory compliance, applies industry best practices, and develops standardized fleet procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure code and regulatory compliance across assigned programs throughout the SNC fleet
  • Identify and apply industry best practices to fleet operations
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize fleet procedures across all SNC plants
  • Participate in industry working groups and technical committees
  • Troubleshoot equipment and component issues across plant sites
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in assigned program areas
  • Support refueling outages and coordinate outage-related engineering activities
  • Govern, oversee, and support plant equipment inspection and testing performance
  • Establish and maintain standardized processes and procedures fleet-wide
  • Support Corporate ERO duties as required

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, Nuclear, Civil, or Chemical Engineering) or Professional Engineer license. Three or more years of application and experience with Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, or Cable Monitoring Programs. Strong working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Ability to solve complex engineering problems, work effectively across diverse groups, manage multiple projects, and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities.

Desired

Five or more years of application and experience with applicable programs. Proficiency in interpretation of system/component/isometric drawings. Nuclear power site station experience. Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering. Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.

Location

Based at Corporate HQ in Birmingham, AL, Plant Farley, Plant Hatch, or Plant Vogtle. Candidate must live within 1 hour of one location to support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties. Includes refueling outage support and industry travel.
