Programs Engineer- Any SNC Site
About this role
Programs Engineer supporting Southern Nuclear's eight-unit fleet (Alabama and Georgia) providing technical leadership across Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal, Buried Piping, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, and Cable Monitoring Programs. Ensures regulatory compliance, implements industry best practices, and drives engineering excellence across the fleet.
Responsibilities
- —Provide technical leadership and guidance in assigned nuclear programs (Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, Cable Monitoring)
- —Ensure code and regulatory compliance across the SNC fleet
- —Identify and apply industry best practices to program implementation
- —Develop and maintain standardized fleet procedures
- —Participate in industry working groups and troubleshoot technical problems through plant and corporate management
- —Oversee governance, oversight, and performance functions of plant equipment inspection and testing
- —Support refueling outages and coordinate industry travel as needed
- —Support Corporate Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline from accredited institution or Professional Engineer license
- —3+ years of application and experience with Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, and/or Cable Monitoring Programs
- —Strong technical background with working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- —Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions
- —Strong verbal and written communication skills
- —Ability to initiate, coordinate, and oversee multiple complex projects and meet deadlines
- —Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with nuclear plant site counterparts
- —Self-starter who performs tasks with minimal supervision
- —Maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities
Desired
- —Mechanical or Materials Engineering discipline (Metallurgical, Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering also considered based on experience)
- —5+ years of application and experience with applicable programs
- —Proficiency in interpretation of system/component/isometric drawings
- —Nuclear power site station experience
- —Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering
Location
Position may be located at any SNC site: Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (Alabama), Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (Georgia), or Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (Georgia). Role includes refueling outage support and industry travel.
