Programs Engineer- Any SNC Site
About this role
Programs Engineer supporting Southern Nuclear's Fleet Plant Support Department across multiple nuclear sites. Provide technical leadership on critical programs including Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal, Buried Piping, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, and Cable Monitoring—ensuring NRC regulatory compliance and driving fleet-wide standardization across PWR and BWR assets.
Responsibilities
- —Provide technical leadership and guidance on assigned aging management and equipment inspection programs (Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, Cable Monitoring)
- —Ensure code compliance (ASME Code, 10 CFR 50) and NRC regulatory requirements across assigned programs
- —Identify and apply industry best practices to program implementation; develop and maintain fleet-wide procedures and processes
- —Troubleshoot technical problems and drive problem resolution through plant and corporate management
- —Support refueling outages, coordinate industry working group participation, and support Corporate Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties
- —Oversee governance, oversight, and performance functions of plant equipment inspection and testing; maintain standardized program performance across the SNC fleet
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in engineering discipline from accredited institution or Professional Engineer (PE) license. Three or more years of hands-on experience with Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, and/or Cable Monitoring programs. Working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Strong problem-solving and engineering judgment. Eligible to maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities.
Desired
Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering degree. Five or more years of experience with applicable programs. Proficiency in interpretation of system/component/isometric drawings. Nuclear power station site experience. Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering.
Location
Joseph M. Farley, Edwin I. Hatch, or Alvin W. Vogtle nuclear plants in Alabama and Georgia. Position includes refueling outage support and industry travel. Unescorted facility access required.
