Programs Engineer- Any SNC Site
About this role
Programs Engineer providing technical leadership across Southern Nuclear's fleet in specialized nuclear engineering disciplines including Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Buried Piping, Welding, and Cable Monitoring. Ensure regulatory compliance, drive fleet standardization, and support refueling outages at multiple nuclear plant sites.
Responsibilities
- —Provide technical leadership and guidance in assigned engineering programs (Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, Welding, Cable Monitoring)
- —Ensure code and regulatory compliance across SNC fleet and interpret system, component, and isometric drawings
- —Develop, maintain, and implement fleet procedures, processes, and industry best practices
- —Troubleshoot technical problems and drive resolution through plant and corporate management
- —Oversee multiple complex projects, support refueling outages with on-site technical oversight, and participate in industry working groups
- —Support Corporate Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties and establish strong working relationships with plant site counterparts
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in engineering discipline from accredited university or Professional Engineer license; 3+ years application and experience with Inservice Inspection, Flow Accelerated Corrosion, License Renewal/Aging Management, Buried Piping and Tanks, FLEX, Reactor Internals, and/or Cable Monitoring Programs; working knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements; ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions; strong verbal and written communication; ability to work across diverse groups; ability to manage multiple complex projects with minimal supervision; ability to maintain unescorted access to all SNC facilities.
Desired
Mechanical or Materials Engineering discipline; 5+ years application and experience with applicable programs; proficiency in system/component/isometric drawing interpretation; nuclear power site station experience; previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering; Metallurgical, Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering degrees.
Location
Position at one of three SNC sites: Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (Dothan, AL), Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (Baxley, GA), or Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (Waynesboro, GA). Includes refueling outage support and industry travel. Level 4–7 position depending on qualifications.
