Required qualifications
Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Aerospace preferred). Experience performing design or modification engineering on process equipment in petroleum, nuclear, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical industries. Broad familiarity with engineering principles, systems engineering, and operations intuition.
About this role
Oklo is developing advanced fission power plants and seeks a Process Engineer to design and oversee fluid and power process systems. You'll lead system architecture, specifications, and operations across multiple lifecycle stages—from concept through commissioning and operation—in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Design fluid and process systems including piping, valves, compressors, pumps, and heat exchangers
- Define process equipment architecture, specifications, operational modes, and performance criteria
- Design, assemble, and operate prototypes for iterative design refinement
- Generate technical documentation for system layout, fabrication, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance
- Serve as process system owner through multiple lifecycle stages
- Generate technical documentation for regulatory filings
- Collaborate with external vendors on process equipment analysis, procurement, and testing
Preferred qualifications
Experience with fluids/process system design, power generation, heat transfer equipment, and systems engineering. Experience designing compressible gas systems (air and inert gases). Passion for clean energy and advanced fission. Quick learning ability, comfort in iterative startup environments, excellent communication skills, and creative problem-solving.
Location, schedule, and travel
Remote with required travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice quarterly. First two weeks of onboarding must be completed in-person at headquarters.
