Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year university or equivalent experience. Demonstrated applicable experience in nuclear licensing. Ability to analyze and interpret U.S. NRC regulations and guidance. Experience with U.S. NRC construction permit and operating license application preparation and/or reviews. Project management experience including developing schedules, meeting deadlines, formulating budgets, and leading teams. Understanding of nuclear reactor design and operation. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Professional. Strong communication skills and capability to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
About this role
Principal Nuclear Licensing Engineer supporting TerraPower's Natrium advanced reactor projects. Develop licensing documents (Safety Analysis Reports, Environmental Reports), coordinate with NRC on Construction Permit and Operating License Applications, and ensure regulatory compliance throughout the licensing lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Draft, author, and review licensing documents including Safety Analysis Reports and Environmental Reports for Construction Permit and Operating License Applications
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to prepare responses to NRC audit questions and requests for additional information
- Interface with the Licensing Team to complete licensing tasks and coordinate with design personnel to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements
- Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with regulations and quality assurance standards
- Interface with technical discipline teams at TerraPower, partners, and contractors
- Review correspondence to and from regulatory agencies and develop licensing strategies to support project goals
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite in Bellevue, Washington; 0–10% travel; extended desk-based work (>8 hours/day); ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
