About this role
Monitor and maintain water chemistry integrity across power plant systems, including collection and analysis of water, oil, and coal samples. Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental permits and standards. Ideal for chemists or experienced power plant operators with strong laboratory and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- —Monitor and control the integrity of water chemistry utilized in various plant systems
- —Collect and analyze water, oil and coal samples from various plant systems
- —Provide testing, calibration and maintenance of chemical and environmental equipment and instrumentation
- —Assure compliance with various regulatory permits and standards
- —Maintain inventory and supplies for the laboratory
- —Monitor the unloading of various bulk chemical trucks
- —Operate and maintain Wastewater and Potable Water plants
- —Work 4 ten-hour days with flexibility for overtime and emergency shutdowns/startups
Qualifications
BS degree in Chemistry, Biology or other physical science, OR at least 5 years of power plant operations/chemistry experience. Ability to obtain necessary licenses and certifications once in position. Successful completion of the EEI TECH Test. Ability to lift and carry moderate loads (~40 lbs) and climb stairs. Willingness to abide by all safety procedures.
Desired
Familiarity with laboratory equipment including spectrophotometer, AA (atomic absorption), and moisture analyzer. Competent interpersonal relationship skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities. Advanced problem-solving skills and computer proficiency. Self-motivated with sound judgment related to chemistry decisions. Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures.
Location
Onsite in Newark, Arkansas. 4 ten-hour days per week with on-call overtime and emergency shutdown/startup flexibility. Up to 25% travel. Physical requirements: ability to lift ~40 lbs and climb stairs.
