Nuclear Turbine Maintenance Technician I or Nuclear Turbine Maintenance Technician II - Brunswick Nuclear Plant
About this role
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on nuclear plant steam turbines, electrical generators, and associated equipment at Brunswick Nuclear Plant. Two levels: Technician I (entry-level) or Technician II (requires 1.5 years related experience). Duties include disassembly/reassembly of large rotating equipment, rigging/crane operations, and support for Duke Nuclear Fleet maintenance outages with frequent travel.
Responsibilities
- —Disassemble and reassemble large steam turbines and electrical generators
- —Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on nuclear plant equipment to maintain reliability
- —Conduct rigging and crane operation activities in support of maintenance work
- —Support Duke Nuclear Fleet maintenance outages with frequent travel
- —Maintain qualifications for steam turbine and electrical generator maintenance
- —Document work using technical writing skills
Qualifications
- —High School Diploma or GED
- —Valid driver's license
- —Proven mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- —Ability to lift 50 pounds
- —Pass Power Plant Maintenance Positions Selection System (MASS) test
- —Pass basic Maintenance Training
- —Ability to gain and maintain nuclear access
- —Respirator Clearance/SCBA qualification
- —Pass nuclear pre-access drug screen
- —For Technician II: 1.5 years directly related experience
Desired
- —Two-year technical school degree or equivalent military/training experience
- —Prior rigging and lifting experience
- —ACAD-accredited Cab Operated Polar or Gantry Crane operator qualification
- —CNC machining skills
- —Diagnostic and analytical skills
- —Prior nuclear power plant experience
- —Demonstrated safety and administrative procedure compliance
- —Effective communication and teamwork ability
Location
Brunswick Nuclear Plant. Various shifts including extended hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays; on-call support required. 5–15% travel to support outages. Work in extreme temperatures, at elevated heights, and in tight spaces; continuous climbing, kneeling, crawling, and standing required.
