Required qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited university
  • 15 years of direct experience developing and implementing nuclear security programs in operating plants and/or nuclear new-built projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with US NRC 10 CFR regulations
  • Experience applying US NRC and Nuclear Energy Institute guidance related to 10 CFR regulations and their implementation

About this role

TerraPower seeks a Nuclear Physical Security Engineer to develop and implement Physical Security Programs for advanced reactor projects. This role supports regulatory compliance and security program execution across construction, fuel delivery, and operations phases, including physical protection system design, security assessments, licensing documentation, and coordination with NRC and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing licensing actions for Physical Security Programs across construction and operations phases
  • Support design, construction, and implementation of physical protection systems including barriers, access control, intrusion detection, and security response positions
  • Develop security lifecycle documents including project plans, concept of operations, procedures, and implementation plans
  • Develop and implement regulatory documents such as physical security plans, training and qualification plans, and contingency response plans
  • Perform nuclear security assessments to support site security protective strategy and contingency response plan development
  • Serve as security liaison to internal and external stakeholders on plant design, safety-security interface, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with design personnel to ensure new designs meet physical security regulatory requirements
  • Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with Physical Security Design Programs
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Access Authorization (AA) and Fitness For Duty (FFD) regulations
  • Develop and deliver training on AA, FFD, behavior observation, and fatigue management
  • Assist in nuclear security program audits and assessments to ensure compliance
  • Review correspondence with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
