Required qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited program (Master's degree acceptable in lieu)
- 0-2 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer I role, or 2-4 years with minimum 1 year nuclear experience for Nuclear Engineer II role
- Ability to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment and work in office and plant environments

Responsibilities
- Provide engineering/technical expertise in identification, analysis, and resolution of routine problems in civil/structural engineering
- Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
- Develop civil/structural engineering solutions for plant modifications, including scoping and design packages
- Conduct pipe stress analyses and pipe hanger/support design and modifications per ASME B31.1 and Section III standards
- Support maintenance activities such as lifting/rigging evaluations
- Perform independent reviews of peer-prepared engineering products
- Conduct basic engineering studies requiring minimal evaluation or ingenuity
- Assist in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
- Maintain accurate records and files
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program
- Background in pipe stress analysis with willingness to perform/learn ASME B31.1 and ASME Section III
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
- Experience researching engineering issues, evaluating alternatives, and preparing recommendations
- Experience in the utility industry
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam and desire to complete Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Understanding of basic project management principles
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals
Location, schedule, and travel
Catawba Nuclear Station, North Carolina. Office and plant environments with 5-15% travel; occasional overnight travel required. May require Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities with on-call duty rotation and Fit for Duty requirements.
