About this role

Nuclear Accounting Analyst role providing accounting support to AEP's nuclear business unit at D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant. Responsibilities include general ledger accounting, regulatory compliance (SOX, FERC), accounts payable processing, inventory accounting, and month-end closing. Two levels available: entry-level (0–5 years) and senior (5–10 years).

Responsibilities

—Perform general ledger accounting functions, including journal entry process development and review, and general ledger reconciliations
—Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and review data requests from internal and external auditors
—Develop and cultivate positive business relationships between Accounting and other Nuclear/AEP business partners
—Support Accounts Payable invoice processing by reviewing invoices for proper accounting and submitting for approval
—Assess, develop, and enhance Accounting processes and procedures on a continuous basis
—Apply knowledge of FERC and Regulatory Accounting concepts specific to nuclear plant accounts
—Support the Nuclear Plant in outage roles or non-traditional outage positions as needed
—Provide support for labor time entry and payroll processes
—Participate in special projects as requested
—Support Nuclear Plant Emergency Response Organization

Qualifications

—Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
—For entry-level: 0–5 years' experience; for senior: 5–10 years' experience
—Strong competency in written and oral communication
—Proficient in Microsoft Excel
—Experience with SQL
—Detail-oriented with logical approach to problem-solving
—Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions
—Ability to work effectively as part of a team with excellent time management and organization skills
