Neutronics Analysis Engineer
About this role
Oklo is seeking a Neutronics Analysis Engineer to define, develop, and execute in-core and ex-core neutronics analyses supporting fast reactor design, performance evaluation, and safety assurance. You'll work with the engineering team on criticality, depletion, activation, and shielding analyses using Monte Carlo and deterministic codes.
Responsibilities
- —Perform core design and fuel cycle analysis using Monte Carlo and deterministic codes on Oklo fast reactors
- —Conduct calculations and analyses in Monte Carlo-based codes such as Serpent, MCNP, SCALE, and OpenMC
- —Perform calculations and analyses with fast reactor deterministic codes such as DIF3D and PERSENT
- —Support qualification and verification of neutronic analyses, including validation against experiments and benchmarks
- —Stay current with fast reactor core design and analysis work being performed internationally, including benchmark calculations and experiments
- —Provide technical feedback to quick-iterating design teams
- —Document work using modern tools and techniques, and write clear, well-reasoned technical reports
- —Support licensing and regulatory interactions by providing technically sound and defensible neutronics analyses
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear engineering with experience in reactor design and analysis
- —Fluency with Python
- —Experience with modern object-oriented languages, preferably C++
- —Proficiency with high-performance computing systems
Desired
- —Experience with fast reactor design and analysis
- —Proficiency with MCNP and SERPENT
- —Proficiency with ORNL's SCALE code system (TRITON, KENO, SAMPLER, etc.)
- —Proficiency with Argonne's ARC codes (MC2, DIF3D, etc.)
- —Master's or PhD degree
Location
Remote with required travel to Santa Clara, CA headquarters twice per quarter; first two weeks of onboarding in-person at headquarters.
