Required qualifications
- BS in Engineering with 8+ years of substation-related experience, OR 6+ years of progressive applicable experience including supervisory roles; OR 12+ years of substation-related experience without degree; OR 10+ years of progressive applicable experience including supervisory roles
- Strong knowledge of utility safety policies with exceptional commitment to safety
- Familiarity with NERC/FERC/SERC regulatory requirements
- Effective oral and written communication skills across multiple organizational levels
- Significant experience with Substation Work Management System (SWMS), Transmission Automated Outage Request System (TAORS), Paperless Condition Report system (PCRs), or similar software
- Strong background in protective relaying and substation power equipment
- Available and on-call 24/7 for system emergencies
- Strong working knowledge of basic computer programs
About this role
Entergy is seeking a Manager of Grid Operations Support to lead grid planning and scheduling operations across the Mississippi transmission system. You'll manage capital, O&M, and maintenance work planning while ensuring NERC/SERC compliance, overseeing transmission protection systems, and leading a team of planners, schedulers, and technical specialists. This role requires 24/7 on-call availability for emergency response to substation equipment failures and system reliability issues.
Responsibilities
- Lead Grid Planner/Scheduler organization and manage work management processes for capital, incremental, O&M, and failure work
- Champion Tier 1 and Nuclear maintenance programs; provide oversight of SERC maintenance tasks and transmission protection system operations per established procedures
- Provide direct supervision to engineering, technical specialist, planner/scheduler, and analytical personnel
- Develop substation design packages, calculations, drawings, standards, and engineering evaluations for capital projects
- Manage development and implementation of project schedules to ensure on-time, on-budget completion
- Maintain organizational focus on SERC/NERC standards compliance and configuration management
- Provide technical analysis and leadership for reliability issues; support emergency response to substation equipment failures, DFR/smart relay support, and root cause analysis
- Interface with Transmission Operations Center, Distribution Operations Center, engineering, Project Management, and internal/external customers
- Manage substation support material and mobile equipment fleet availability for emergency outages
