About this role
Master thesis student position at Westinghouse focused on characterizing UNS N07752 (Ni-Cr superalloy) for nuclear reactor applications. You will investigate how re-heat treatment affects material properties and determine the limits of repeated heat treatment cycles in accordance with ASME SB-637 standards.
Responsibilities
- —Conduct literature study on UNS N07752 and re-heat treatment processes
- —Design and execute different heat treatment protocols
- —Perform testing and characterization of treated materials (tensile testing, metallography)
- —Analyze differences and similarities in properties between bar and plate samples
- —Document findings and write thesis report
Qualifications
- —Knowledge of heat treatment of metallic materials
- —Knowledge of tensile testing and metallographic analysis
- —Enrollment in a Master's program in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or related field
Location
Onsite at Westinghouse Swedish operations in Västerås or Täby, Sweden
