Manufacturing Engineer
About this role
Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Westinghouse supporting commercial nuclear energy solutions. Design and qualify nuclear component manufacturing processes, lead cross-functional product development projects, and drive process improvements from concept through production qualification.
Responsibilities
- —Develop, debug, and qualify new manufacturing processes and techniques for nuclear components; specify new processes and designs, develop and install equipment
- —Create and improve procedures and methods for implementing product manufacturing into plant operations; monitor and correct quality problems in manufacturing processes
- —Define quality levels and failure cause analysis; review drawings and specifications for nuclear quality requirements
- —Analyze designs and implement improvements to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising nuclear safety and performance standards
- —Apply lean manufacturing, six-sigma, and statistical process analysis to improve manufacturing efficiency
- —Analyze and recommend technological innovations to solve complex manufacturing problems; identify and develop new manufacturing sources in collaboration with Purchasing
- —Provide technical leadership across multifunctional teams and report on project status, problem resolutions, and business recommendations to Manager of New Product Development
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- —3+ years of applicable manufacturing experience in nuclear or heavy industrial sectors
- —Familiarity with material properties associated with metal working operations
- —Experience with NDE ultrasonic or eddy current technology
Desired
- —Lean manufacturing and six-sigma certification
- —Experience with nuclear component fabrication or qualification processes
