Manager Nuclear Engineering - OSE Electrical - McGuire Nuclear Station
About this role
Manager of the Operations Support Engineering (OSE) Electrical team at McGuire Nuclear Station, a two-unit PWR facility. Oversees a staff of degreed engineers and technical personnel providing electrical engineering support to station operations, reporting to the Engineering General Manager. Responsible for ensuring technical rigor, safety-first engineering practices, and staff development.
Responsibilities
- —Manage degreed engineers and technical personnel performing electrical engineering calculations, evaluations, system health monitoring, troubleshooting, and failure investigations
- —Ensure technical conscience and engineering rigor commensurate with safety significance in all engineering products
- —Provide electrical engineering expertise to resolve complex technical problems and support safe, reliable, efficient station operations
- —Determine maintenance strategies and work scope while supporting fleet and site reliability initiatives
- —Ensure adherence to technical, administrative, and nuclear safety procedures and policies
- —Assign capable personnel to OSE roles, provide training, and serve as rotational duty manager for Engineering
- —Fulfill assigned Emergency Response Organization (ERO) role
- —Observe staff performance, provide coaching, identify performance gaps, and develop closure solutions
- —Identify opportunities for innovation and work elimination to improve departmental efficiency
- —Collaborate with other departments on work management, outage management, and equipment reliability
- —Create and support Individual Development Plans (IDPs) with employees for career progression
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related sciences
- —Minimum 4 years related engineering experience, including 1 year nuclear power plant experience and 0.25 years on-site at a nuclear facility
- —Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship
Desired
- —Work experience in electrical engineering, digital process systems, and/or cyber security
- —Experience as a System Engineer
- —Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license
- —SRO (Senior Reactor Operator) or equivalent nuclear license
- —Nuclear industry background to determine when to engage consultants and contractors for complex technical problems
Location
McGuire Nuclear Station (Cornelius, NC); 5–15% travel; on-site position required
