Manager Engineering
About this role
Lead engineering management of a multi-disciplined nuclear power plant extended power uprate program. This role requires technical expertise in nuclear power plant systems combined with direct management accountability for engineering modifications, specifications, and field support to enhance plant performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- —Manage and approve nuclear power plant modifications, engineering analysis, activities, and programs with in-depth technical expertise
- —Oversee multi-disciplined design engineering team issuing specifications, modification change packages, upgrade selections, and field engineering support
- —Maintain accountability for engineering modifications across power train pumping systems, cooling systems, auxiliary electrical systems, plant control systems, and reactor auxiliary systems
- —Identify, communicate, and resolve equipment procurement, equipment reliability, and system problems
- —Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work while maintaining proper configuration management and adherence to design criteria, practices, procedures, and NRC codes
- —Perform independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects and programs
- —Recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance, reduce costs, correct design flaws, or comply with regulatory changes
- —Communicate with turbine OEMs, specialty consultants, and project implementation teams to ensure successful project delivery
- —Fulfill short-term and long-term engineering and technical leadership responsibilities impacting site operations
- —Perform emergency response duties and department coverage as assigned
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear) or related science, OR Professional Engineer License, OR Active/Inactive SRO License with 5 years of engineering or related experience including minimum 1 year nuclear power plant experience
- —Maintain minimum access requirements and unescorted access clearance
- —Favorable medical examination/testing as applicable
- —Knowledge of applicable nuclear industry codes and regulations (10 CFR, ASME, ANS standards)
Desired
- —Supervisory or managerial experience in nuclear plant engineering
- —Professional Engineer (PE) Registration
- —Advanced technical degree or related coursework
- —5+ years of nuclear plant design engineering experience
- —Experience with power plant thermal performance assessments and extended power uprate programs
Location
Onsite at nuclear power plant facility; subject to emergency response duties and outage coverage requirements
