Required qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical science (or equivalent). Experience requirements: Mid-level: 4+ years in nuclear plant operations or licensing document review/preparation; Senior: 6+ years; Principal: 12+ years in operations or 8+ years in licensing document preparation. Strong knowledge of plant design, operation, and NRC regulations. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must establish permanent residence within 45-minute safe drive time to D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
About this role
Mid-level to Principal licensing engineer role at D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant (dual-unit PWR facility). Independently coordinate NRC compliance activities, regulatory correspondence, Licensee Event Reports, and technical evaluations. Interface directly with NRC Resident Inspectors, Regional staff, and NRR Project Manager to manage inspections and support licensing actions.
Responsibilities
- Independently coordinate evaluation, preparation, processing, and submittal of regulatory correspondence including Licensee Event Reports, Notice of Violation responses, and License Amendment Requests
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to plant personnel on plant conditions requiring NRC notification and conduct event analyses to determine reportability
- Provide Technical Specification guidance and clarifications to plant operations staff
- Interface with NRC Resident Inspectors, Regional Inspectors, NRR Project Manager, and other NRC staff to manage inspections and support licensing actions
- Facilitate and coordinate work activities of others to perform routine regulatory tasks in accordance with company policies and external regulations
- Support Emergency Plan Organization and Corrective Action program activities
Location, schedule, and travel
On-site at D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant, Indiana. Sedentary work with possible radiation exposure within NRC limits; work in hazardous areas may occur.
